Amol learns the hard way that living in India is no cakewalk and his life becomes a How To Guide (rather, How Not To Guide) about making an unplanned move to India. Will he decide to return to his life in North America? What will he do to climb out of the hole that he has unknowingly dug for himself? Will he find his life partner the arranged marriage way? Most importantly, will he discover what being a NRI actually means?
This novel depicts how Amol learns about relationships, friendship, anxiety, challenges at workplace, living with aging parents, and adopt to the cultural heritage he had left behind nearly ten years ago. At the same time, he has to accept that the Indian society is rapidly changing. The novel is set in the time period between 2008 to 2010.

From the Author
My journey as an author began in early 2011 : my posts on the Return to India (r2iclub.com) had received more than 120,000 views, andthe feedback was overwhelmingly positive. My wife thought that my story deserved to be shared with more people.
Before I began writing the first draft, my mentor told me in clear, simple words, "write from your heart, and make sure your book carries a message."
It took me nearly two years to finish the draft, and another year to get it published.In the upcoming books. Amol learns what it means to be a husband, and after his MBA, takes up a job in a completely different industry, and along the way, he and his wife keep moving to different cities in India. I hope to release the sequel to NRI: Now, Returned to Indian in October 2015, followed by one book every quarter in 2016.
About the Author
Amar Vyas spent close to a decade in the United States before he returned to India in 2008. Two years into his Indian adventure, he went to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad for his MBA. A self-described nomad, Amar has lived in ten cities over the pasttwenty years, including the two years he spent as a graduate student atthe University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Most recently, he hasmoved with his family to Bengaluru. In his spare time, Amar likesexploring offbeat places, learning Gujarati from his wife, and spendingtime with his dog, Buddy. Amar's forthcoming books include the next installments in the Amol Dixit series: namely, the Learning Curve and Urban, Sophisticated. He is also writing two nonfiction books which will be released in 2016.

Liked the plot and situations mentioned in the book can relate to any person who returned to India after a long time. Somehow book became predictable and less funny towards the end. On a whole, i enjoyed this book and will definitely suggest to my friends.

Nice book, easy to read- keeps you entertained

I came across this book and thought that the theme relates to so many Indians, who come back to India, quitting their high profile or not so high profile jobs abroad. I for one have never worked abroad and hence was curious to know more about how did the transition happen for our protagonist- Amol Dixit.
First impression - the narration seemed easy to follow, the writing style is simple, and one wanted to read more.
writing something about the book the protagonist Amol Dixit appears confused at first, but we see his character evolve as the book progresses. And the secret weapon of this book is Gyaani Baba, who really adds a unique flavour to the story- you should not miss him.
For a first time writer, Amar Vyas seems to have done a good job. I liked this book, and am looking forward to the next installment of the Amol Dixit series provided the next book is also similarly priced.

Enjoyable autobiographical story

This is a story of transnationalism in the 21st century global labor market. Almost 2 million Indians migrated to the USA already this brand new century, but for various reasons thousands returned. This is one such example told in a personal journal style using the simple voice first person in English as a second language. In spite of some syntax, capitalization and punctuation errors, for the most part it works. I became attached to the protagonist as I learned about life and the geography of the Mumbai metropolitan area.
