The pros and cons of this book

This book is very very useful. It helps if you at least are familiar with the KANJI at the back of the book because the answers are heavy on using kanji. however the furigana is by the kanji so you can understand how to pronounce the words. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE IF THIS BOOK COVERS YOUR GENKI BOOK, THIS BOOK COVERS:

Genki I 2nd edition textbook :The orange book
Genki I 2nd edition workbook
Genki II 2nd edition textbook
Genki II 2nd edition textbook

To understand where the answer section is for your book, you have to be able to read A LITTLE Katakana because the book is purely in Japanese. It's not hard to get a grasp of how the book is broken down. The first section is the Genki I textbook, then Genki I WB, then Genki II textbook and Genki II wb.

Also be weary, like I said before, you have to be familiar with your kanji. The book has mistakes on some kanji. For example, the strokes on the kanji for to speak 話　is not correct. If you copy that kanji to (cheat), it's almost a dead giveaway if your teacher grades harshly on kanji. The first line on 話 is supposed to be a diagonal line instead of a horizontal line. Well it's technically not a mistake, it's just how the typed version of the kanji looks, but you still need to be able to differentiate between the two.

THIS BOOK IS NOT A TEACHER'S REFERENCE MANUAL. IT WILL NOT HAVE ALL THE POWERPOINTS AND EXPLAINATIONS THAT COME WITH THE BOOK. THIS IS JUST AN 80PG BOOK OF PURE ANSWERS. THE TEACHER'S BOOK COSTS LIKE $120-$200 AND IS BLUE (I THINK. IT'S ON AMAZON)

Almost Perfect!

I enjoy using Genki to study the Japanese language and decided to buy the answer key to feel confident in my answers. I use this with both Genki 1 (second edition) and Genki 1 workbook.

Beware! This answer key is ONLY IN JAPANESE; therefore, my heart almost stopped when I opened this book expecting to see "Answer...". It took time for me to search for the section that contained the answers to questions in the workbook vs. textbook. Once your able to find the specific section you are working on, it's fairly easy to annotate what page you need to reference.

What's great about this book is that it contains answers to the ENTIRE Genki series (meaning answers to Genki 1&2 workbook and textbook).

As stated earlier, if the navigation was just a little bit easier to manage, it would easily have gained 5 stars.

Great, but will take some deciphering.

For those that are buying this to correct your own work in the Genki textbooks and workbooks:

This is great it has answers for all four books and even has examples of acceptable work for the exercises that ask the reader to talk about themselves. However it is entirely in Japanese. So it will take a little work to figure out what answers are meant for which exercise. It also, doesn't break up the books. All the grammar answers for every chapter from the two books combined will be in one section, while the Read/Writing exercises will be in a separate section, etc. These can be pretty easily deciphered if you have your text book next to you though.

Similarly geoscience presentations cover diverse areas in geology, geophysics palaeontology and geochemistry. The selected papers focus on current interests in petroleum engineering and geoscience. This book will be a bridge between engineers, geoscientists, academicians and industry.

About the Author

Prof Mariyamni Awang has been teaching Petroleum Engineering for more than 30 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Queensland, a masters in petroleum engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a PhD in petroleum engineering from Stanford University. Her research specializations are enhanced oil recovery, reservoir engineering and simulation. Examples of the topics that she is working on and have published are lower temperature CO2 injections, applications of nanoparticles in O&G and simulation of EOR processes.  However, she has projects on reservoir characterization, chemical additives and multiphase behaviour too. Her projects have been funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Higher Education, Petroleum Research Fund and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS internal funding. She is currently heading EOR research at the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in her capacity as Director of Mission Oriented Research of EOR.

Born and raised in Addis Ababa-Ethiopia, Berihun Mamo Negash is a lecturer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, department of Petroleum Engineering. He has completed his BSc. Degree in chemical Engineering from Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia and MSc. degree in petroleum engineering, with specialization in reservoir engineering from Norwegian university of science and technology in Norway. He has worked at Chemical Engineering Department of Bahir Dar University for more than 7 years delivering different courses, some of them are computational methods, chemical engineering thermodynamics, transport phenomenon and at the same time he was a part-time lecturer at petroleum engineering department of Mekelle University for three consecutive years teaching Reservoir simulation, well logging and formation evaluation and Natural gas engineering. Currently he is researching on topics related to performance prediction of a reservoir under different conditions, such as primary depletion, water injection, gas and WAG injection.

Ms. Nur Asyraf Md Akhir is a petroleum engineering lecturer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. She holds a Master of Science degree from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in collaboration with Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. She has a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. She has been teaching petroleum engineering courses such as reservoir rocks and fluid properties and reservoir engineering. She has presented the paper on the clay mineral and log response and be a part of a few projects; internally and internationally. Her research interests are on the enhanced oil recovery, mainly in chemical, CO2 and foam flooding and unconventional reservoir.

Mr. Luluan Almanna Lubis is a Lecturer of Geophysics at Geosciences Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). He received his M.Sc. in Petroleum Geosciences (By Research) from UTP, Malaysia and B.Sc. in Earth Physics from ITB, Indonesia. Prior joining UTP, from 2007 – 2009, He was working and acquired geophysical data measurements at several places in Indonesia, Bandung, Jakarta, East Java, Bali, Sulawesi and Kalimantan. In 2013, He was appointed as a Lecturer in Geosciences Department. Luluan is a full time researcher in the Centre of Seismic Imaging (CSI) at UTP, where the centre work with PETRONAS and PETRONAS Research.

George Barr McCutcheon (1866 - 1928), an American novelist and playwright, was born in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. He attended Purdue University but was dismissed when he failed his exams in second year. He then began working as a reporter for the Lafayette Journal andbecame City Editor of the Lafayette Daily Courier in1893. He is famous largely because of his Graustark series of novels. In total,McCutcheonwrote forty novels and also wrote plays,Brood House (1910), andMary Midthorne (1911).

Just loved it!

Warning: this story is not politically correct. Remember the time it was written and just try to enjoy this engaging adventure. This is one of my favorite McCutcheon novels. I think it would appeal equally to men and women.

Volume I reports the first three apparitions of Our Lady of Good Success, Mother Mariana's childhood and early life in the Convent, her trials, sufferings, and favors. This devotion has been approved by Church authorities since 1611.

Responsible and Fascinating Research Review

I am a lay reader. I read few research reviews, but I found this book to be clear and insightful.

The body of studies reviewed seems comprehensive, and the author strikes me as being very fair and responsible in the way she reviews the research. She points out particularly interesting findings as well as places where more research would be helpful. From page 111: "An interesting difference between interviews with men and with women is that adult men tended to see media images as realistic goals. There was a general feeling that they could look like the media images if they wanted to, but that they did not care enough about the way they looked to spend time weight training." Her own voice in the book is not overbearing, and when she does provide her opinion, it is very insightful. She also does a nice job of reporting on literature (not only on studies). The author's own research and interviews are helpful and fill in areas where information may have otherwise gone missing. She provides helpful information about men and body image. She discusses solutions for body dissatisfaction, though not in the same depth as other subjects. I found this book left me with a different and less biased view about bodies and body satisfaction-an impact I wasn't expecting.

Should be titled Body Shape not Body Image

While I really enjoyed the book, I felt it concetrated may too much on issues of thinness and weight. I think the author did a good job of looking at a variety of studies and including both psychological and sociological studies; however, I feel that body image satisfaction and dissatisfaction goes way beyond just looking at body shape. If you're looking to read about body image outside of the 'weight debate' look elsewhere.

About the Author
Martin E. Glicksman is a professor in the University of Florida's Materials Science & Engineering Department. Dr. Glicksman has co-authored over 300 technical papers and monographs and authored one book on diffusion in solids. He has held visiting professorships at various universities in the US, Germany, Spain, and Israel. Professor Glicksman is a Fellow of the Metallurgical Society (TMS), ASM International, AAAS, and the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He is a member of the American Physical Society (APS). For his research accomplishments on the solidification of metals Professor Glicksman received the Stanley P. Rockwell medal, the Kent van Horn Award, ASM’s Marcus Grossman Award, the TMS Bruce Chalmers Medal, ASM’s International Gold Medal, and the Alexander von Humboldt Senior Research Prize for 2002.

Great Handbook!

I'm currently doing my externship in Radiography. Now is when I'm putting all of what I learned (back at school) to practical use out in the field.
This pocket handbook has been so helpful during this time - it has all of the important info that I need. All of the positions that I learned from the Bontrager's textbook are here. The book is ruggedly constructed, well organized, yet small enough to slip into a pocket.

Purchasing it was simple with Amazon.com - their price was by far the best and their service outstanding! Even though I chose the "free shipping" option, my package arrived quickly - well before the expected delivery date.

I'm quite happy with my decision to purchase this helpful reference guide from Amazon.

Love, Love, Love this book!

I love this book! A few of us have it in our department and keep it available in select rooms. It's a great quick reference to keep by the xray machine. I use mine at least once a week for exams we don't perform as often, that I need a quick refreshing on (usually for central ray and angle). It has all the standard views and a few not so standard views. It has most of what you would need on a daily basis. There are also areas to write techniques down that worked well for you. Every xray dept should have at least one of these.

Great - Better than Mini-Merrils

My school used Merrils for positioning, but Bontrager gives me more. It shoes blocker and marker placement. It gives an outline of the anatomy and centering points in the beginning of each section. It outlines centering points on the model (iliac crest) that you can't see.

The only thing I wish it would include is evaluation criteria and perhaps a photo of the radiograph, but I guess that would make the book bigger.

All in all, a great studying/learning tool.

About the Author
Dan Abnett is the author of the Horus Heresy novels The Unremembered Empire, Know No Fear and Prospero Burns, the last two of which were both New York Times bestsellers. He has written almost fifty novels, including the acclaimed Gaunt’s Ghosts series, and the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies. He scripted Macragge’s Honour, the first Horus Heresy graphic novel, as well as numerous audio dramas and short stories set in the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer universes. He lives and works in Maidstone, Kent.

Abnett is Gifted

I didn't like this book nearly as much as First & Only (or Eye of Terror), but it was still a fun read. I really got sucked in to the characters from the first book and wanted to follow their further exploits. While First & Only had a strong plot that held it together, this book is more of a collection of war stories. They read like they may have already appeared in Inferno! (the Warhammer fiction zine). I'm not a big fan of straight combat/action fiction, so this was somewhat disappointing. What saves it is the fact that Abnett is a truly great writer who really rises above this genre of game fiction. The war stories are interrupted by these almost poetic tableaus of the Tanith troops between battles: A soldier obsessively cleaning his gun, the MASH unit quiet and waiting for the coming onslaught of carnage, a General sharing coffee and small talk with the company cook. These bits are very effective counterpoint to the ferocious battles of the surrounding chapters.
I'm hooked. I can't wait for the next "Gaunt's Ghosts" book, I just hope that Abnett spends more time developing a compelling story arc and less time on the battlefield reportage.

A good sequel to Tanith First and Only

Dan Abnett follows up his first Gaunt's Ghosts novel --- Tanith First and Only --- with Ghostmaker and he does a good job to keep fans of the original hooked with the story. It doesn't rise above the original, but the characterization of major and secondary characters are explored abit further.

Ghostmaker also further explains the current Crusade campaign the regiment is on. Politics become an issue as well. Jealousy from other regiments with a more storied history helps add abit of a subplot to the main story. Gaunt and his men are put through the wringer as they accept missions or put into dangerous situations that slowly dwindle their numbers. This is sad and poignant for the fact that without a homeworld to call home anymore, they have no way of replenishing their regiment like other Imperial Guard units. This also means that for every Tanith who falls in battle, more of their homeworld and people's culture disappear. It really adds meaning to the title of Ghostmaker.

I would recommend this book to those who have read the first and still contemplating as to whether to pick up this sequel.

I don't know why people don't like this book, it's awesome!

This is the second book in the Gaunts Ghost series, and while it's not the best Ghost's book, it's still a five star book. With a huge number of different characters in the books, I think this was a great idea for the series. Dan abnett was able to give more dimension to the characters and there past, which he brought to life in First and only.
Yes, this book is pretty much a collection of short stories and each story focus's on a different character. I personally don't like short stories, but the way Ghostmarker was written was awesome. The thing I don't like short stories is there short! they don't leave any time for character development and in less then an hour they are done. In ghostmaker, the short stories were there to show the character, and show their past, and why they are so attached to it.
Gaunt's Ghost is one of my favorite series of novels, and Ghostmaker is a must read for any fan of warhammer 40k or military sci-fi.
